Create a routine

Putting really is a personal thing. The story of Ben Crenshaw and the pro golfer is a perfect example. There are so many putters and grips out there, but in the end its about what works for you. Personally, I have found that creating a solid pre-putt routine helps with consistent putting. Its the same as a pre-shot routine, only it should be replicated before every putt. Line it up from behind, take a practice stroke from behind, stand above the ball and take another practice stroke, be sure to breathe and then putt. Good Luck

Good Tips

Agreed, the only thing I can add is to keep everything still except for your shoulders. I nice comfortable grip with some overlapp helps stability and keeps from yanking putts. Follow through is THE most underrated aspect of putting. If you watch David Toms, who I believe to have the best putting stroke, has superior tempo and follow through. Another up and coming golfer to watch for is Tiger Woods. He has great focus and mechanics. Head doesn't come up until the ball is gone, and his shoulders are the only thing that moves. You all owe me a shit ton of money for the epic tips

Putting is a personal thing.

I like the story about a pro golfer, I forget his name, who was really struggling with his putting stroke. He couldn't make a putt to save his life and began to search for help from his good friend Ben Crenshaw.

Ben said look bud, it does not matter how you get it in the hole, just get it in the hole. Ben then proceeded to make 10 foot putts with one hand, left hand low, a claw grip, and even off the toe of the putter...

The point of the story was to illustrate how easy it is to get caught up in mechanics. Putting is just about the right speed and right line... Just focus on speed and line and more putts will fall.
